Art in Public Places
Recognizing Art Installations Throughout Anaheim
In 2020 the Anaheim Beautiful Arts in Public Places committee had a number of excellent nominations to consider for awards. The end result was the selection of six awards and two honorable mentions. The awards were announced via a virtual presentation to the Anaheim City Council in November.
Dates and details of the 2021 Art in Public Places award selection process will be announced soon. Check in here or on our social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Anaheim Beautiful’s mission in short is to promote and preserve the beauty of our City, whether it is beauty in the heart of our citizenry, created by nature or through a creative endeavor of an individual or group. With this is mind, we are very pleased to announce that Art in Public Places, a long standing and well-loved program in Anaheim, is now in its second year under the purview of Anaheim Beautiful.
Arts in Public Places was adopted in the City of Anaheim as a key program of the Anaheim Arts Council which has recognized well over 200 art installations over more than half a century. With the dissolution of the Anaheim Arts Council in 2018, those who had brought the program to life has given us the honor of keeping the program alive. We want to thank the members of the Anaheim Arts Council who dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours over the years to offer this important program to the citizens and visitors of Anaheim. We will take care to ensure the integrity and tradition of Art in Public Places continues on.
We plan once again host the Art in Public Places Awards in 2021. The program may be slightly altered due to continuing COVID-19 restrictions. We will keep you posted on the details.
