There are certain people who touch our lives in such a positive way that when they are gone, they can never be replaced. We are so very saddened by the loss of our wonderful friend Pat Pina who passed away on March 13. Pat brought such beauty and love to our organization and our City. She never stopped working on behalf of the community she loved and had a way of reaching out to those around her to do the same.
Pat was one of the original founders of Anaheim Beautiful in 1970. She served as president and other positions on the board of directors spanning five decades. She was instrumental in the operation of so many of our programs, including Green Ribbon Week (now Community Pride), the Thelma Jordan Scholarship program, the Margie Hilgenfeld Tree Memorial Program, Adopt-A-Neighborhood, Raise the Flag, etc. Many other organizations also benefited from the gift of her time and talents. Pat adopted an alter-ego every December as Mrs. Claus at the Anaheim Nutcracker Tree Lighting event, sharing hugs and wishes for a merry holiday with the children who lined up to greet her. In 2016 she was awarded the Sally White Award in recognition of her volunteerism throughout the community.

Pat administered the blessing at numerous tree memorial plantings. She did this to help bring solace to those who were grieving and to help them heal. She did not hesitate to graciously share her spirituality and faith with others. As an ordained minister she officiated the wedding of Sandra Lozeau, a current board member and long time president of our organization. To many of us at Anaheim Beautiful, Pat was family. In fact, throughout the community, Pat had a huge family, she was a second Mom to many. We loved seeing her devotion and pride for her own family, her husband, Sergio, her children and many grand and great grandchildren. We send our sincere condolences to them. We can only imagine how much they are hurting.
We will greatly miss Pat’s smile, her joy and her presence in our lives. She will live on in our hearts, remembering all she has taught us through her words, her deeds and her actions.

Anaheim Beautiful’s mission is to make a difference. This is the way Pat lived her life and we will honor her memory by following her example with our families and in our community.
