Anaheim City Council Members recognized the first place Anaheim Community Pride winning posters created by elementary grade students from the Anaheim Elementary School District, Magnolia School District, and Orange Unified School District during the June 14, 2016 Anaheim City Council meeting. The Anaheim Community Pride Poster Contest encouraged students to partake and develop an attitude of pride for their community by focusing on being litter-free, graffiti-free and recycling.

More than 20,000 students had the opportunity to participate in the poster contest. In addition to taking part in the contest, more than 30 classes participated in environmental educational presentations. The presentations were facilitated by Republic Services and designed to teach students about what happens to their recyclables after they leave the curb, and how they can help prevent litter and graffiti in their city.
