Formerly known as Green Ribbon Week, the Anaheim Beautiful Community Pride Poster Contest is offered each Spring and reaches well over 20,000 young minds. In cooperation with the program sponsors and the Anaheim Elementary School District, Magnolia School District and Orange Unified School District, the contest encourages students to partake and develop an attitude of pride for their community by focusing on being litter-free, graffiti-free and recycling. Six winners, one from each grade, are presented to the City Council and receive a family four pack of Disneyland Resort Park Hopper tickets.
An art contest portraying a positive message is only part of this worthwhile program. Through a partnership with Republic Services, more than 30 classes participated in environmental education presentations designed to teach students about what happens to their recyclables after they leave the curb and how they can prevent litter and graffiti in their city.
2016 Winners Include:
Arabella Kim (1st Grade) Anaheim Hills Elementary, Orange Unified School District
Jude Alabed (2nd Grade) Running Springs Elementary, Orange Unified School District
